The 2015-2016 WASA Executive Board is very excited to introduce two new awards to recognize the contribution of WASA Alumni both at Wharton and in the broader business community. The winners were announced at the 2015 WABF Gala on November 14th, 2015.
WASA Spirit Award
Yassin Knocke, WG’14
Yassin is currently an Associate at JP Morgan Investment Bank in New York City. He graduated from Wharton in 2014. Whilst at Wharton, he served as the President of WASA and played an integral role driving WASA to its current notoriety.
The WASA Spirit Award is awarded to an Alumnus who graduated in the last 5 years for their contribution to fostering the WASA community during and after their time at Wharton and expanding WASA’s brand within and outside of Wharton.
WASA Leadership in Business Award
Idris Mohammed, WG’00
Idris has been a partner with DPI since its inception in 2007 and heads DPI’s recently opened Lagos office. Idris has over 20 years of experience in private equity investing, corporate finance and banking, spanning both the US and Africa. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University (1992) and an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (2000). Idris currently serves on the boards of Letshego Holdings Limited and Food Concepts Plc and previously served on the board of Mansard Insurance Idris is a citizen of the US, UK and Nigeria.
The WASA Leadership in Business Award is awarded to an Alumnus who has made significant impact in the business community, in Africa and/or internationally, since graduating from Wharton.
